It’s been quite some time since I’ve done a PMA post, and that’s mostly because I haven’t been doing my nails that much lately. From time to time I like to give my nails a break and just let them breath a little, but it’s time to get back to polishing these bad boys! With October just around the corner I thought I’d finally test out this ORLY nail polish – and I have to say when I got done with them it totally reminded me of Demi Lovato’s nails in her music video Heart Attack, which was a total plus. I have never used ORLY polishes and although I have owned this polish for months I never used it – which is a shock since I LOVE wearing black nail polish any time of the year.
ORLY Beauty makes a number of different polishes for each shade, and the one I’m wearing is Liquid Vinyl (now on sale for $3.99). Although I like the way it turned out – and am loving the way black polish looks on rounded out nails (the photo does not do it justice) – I was disappointed with the formula. I don’t know if it’s because it’s been so long since I’ve purchased it or if this is how all ORLY polishes are, but the formula was so guppy. The best way I can describe it is like a thick guppy serum. This consistency made it a little hard to apply and required more effort then Essie or OPI polishes require to get it to look nice on the nail. I would not recommend this for someone who is in a hurry, however it does dry fairly quickly which is a huge plus in my book. As far as it’s staying power, I just applied it yesterday so I can’t speak about that just yet although I do recommend putting a top coat for extra protection and extra shine (a matt top coat would look good too I think).
I am super excited to be wearing black polish again – it’s been ages and so unlike me to go this long without wearing black. I hope to have a fall polish look for you guys soon, and I’ll for sure have a simple Halloween nail look up in the next couple of weeks as well as other Halloween inspired posts – from home decor to food.
Hope you have all been having a great September/end of summer and I will speak to you all in the Fall! As always thanks for reading.
